Energy Reading for August

A step in the right direction...

...And that can be a step in the right direction in anything! Romance, career, friendships, health and fitness and so on. Whatever you are doing will bring much to smile about. Perhaps your financial situation will bloom early or your innocent flirt takes the next exciting steps.

August makes things feel like its spring. The energy is new and exciting and full of determination. Its in this type of energy that people have experiences equivalent to 'dreams come true'. It's months like these that can change people's lives in wonderful ways.

In having said this, there are dangers (as with anything) and we need to be aware of those. There are always 2 sides to a story and August's energy is no exception and for some people it wont be a box of chocolates.

It's a great time to start planning for the next few months. Potentials for more room to grow are coming and by the end of this month we will experience the fullness of this. In addition to new beginnings and fresh starts, a troubled situation will finally come to a close which will bring a lot of relief.

Spend some time on you. You might like to go shopping, out to a romantic dinner or just coffee. Visit a close friend or call an old friend. Browse a new-age store, local markets or health food store. If there are gentle nudges go with them because they will bring more experiences to smile about.

August can make your wishes, hopes and dreams come true so remember 'when you see a chance, take it!'

Book Review – The Spiritual Anatomy Of Emotion

by Jawer & Micozzi

how feelings link the brain, the body and the sixth sense

The spiritual anatomy of emotion: How feelings link the brain, the body and the sixth sense is an examination of our feelings, not our thoughts, possibly a gateway to understanding consciousness. Discover how your feelings work and what they are really doing. More often than not we discard our feelings replacing them with outside views and ideas on what we should feel. In this book you can take a deeper look at your silent yet important feelings.

"It made me think twice about my approach and I no longer go with what only my head says, but what all of me is saying together. " - Josh Anderson

Why We Don't Listen

Problems with listening have been around since the beginning of time and even Adam and Eve didn't listen, but why don't we listen?

Listening is hearing and in a typical day there is a lot of information we gather just by hearing, this doesn't mean we have listened. To listen and use your hearing properly you need to pay attention to what you are hearing with intention to listen. When you are having a conversation with someone, the difference between hearing and listening what that person is saying is being able to reflect back what they have said to you.

There are many reasons why we don't listen and the amount at which we don't listen is massive! A lot of common problems can be avoided just by better listening.

Listening barriers can be broken down into three groups and each one can be healed and restored.

Lets shift our focus to negative attitudes and behaviors

Group 1 Making decisions quickly, being selfish and or bossy

There are 3 different types in Group 1.

The first 2 types are similar but have different listening barriers. The first type is a caring, strong-willed individual and their listening barriers revolve around their notions they are right and know what is best for you. They don't recognise how this behavior affects their relationships. Secretly they like to reign within their small circles of friends and if there was a rank they think they are number 1. These types generally have issues with 'letting things be' and the desire to 'control' everything including others. As a result they can be overbearing.

The second type is similar to the first type, as we have mentioned, however with this type they are not as 'openly' controlling but tend to be more 'secretly' controlling in particularly towards their lovers, husbands or wives. They are ambitious and caring, and no matter what these types get in to or do, they tend to be discreet. Their listening barriers are set upon them with a deep inner need for material security. They tend to feel they come out second best and as a result are rather insecure making them difficult to deal with.

The third type in this group is different to it's previous neighbors however shares the same material desires, not as strongly as with the second type and this type is also not 'controlling', often needing guidance of a stronger personality, but at the same time they 'want freedom to do what they please'! There are often internal conflicts between their positive and negative sides as they try to marry the 2 in harmony. Their listening barriers revolve around their internal struggle to find a constant 'new' direction, even if it seems they have it 'all worked out'. In addition, unfortunately these types have a tendency towards mental illness and disorders.

Group 2 Emotional weakness, meticulous, having to weigh one's self-worth and or arrogant

There are 5 different types in Group 2 - with one type having a natural leaning towards spiritual growth.

The first type is very caring to the point they literally suffer with you. Deep inside of themselves they don't trust in the big wide world although they find comforts here and there, but it takes a lot to make them feel safe. They seek out security from the moment they're born from their parents and in their families and then later from their beloved and their children. They can be over-emotional and make hasty decisions often they regret later but not always admitting it. Surprisingly with this type they believe in 'a magic' or 'a power in the Universe'.

Compassionate and generous, the second type can come across as a 'know-it-all'. As with Group 1, type 2, these individuals often feel they come off second even though they see themselves as 'very important persons'. Their listening barriers revolve around themselves comparing themselves to others. They tend to bank up a smorgasbord of issues often alienating themselves as they can be 'hard' to deal with.

This third type cares about the world and all that is wrong with the world however, the issue that often arise with these types make them unloving. They internally obsess with their appearance and will fuss for hours to achieve the look they desire. They can go over things a thousand times. As a result they criticize heavily and in some sever cases they may have cosmetic surgery.

The fourth type in this group is born with the highest potential towards a spiritual life. The first thing you will notice is 'paying attention' comes naturally to them and so do many other spiritual qualities including trust in their instincts, faith in the unknown and a balanced view of problems and solutions. These types come into the world ready to challenge life's boundaries and often take on roles which allows them to become pioneers towards helping others. These individuals are genuine by nature by if not nurtured as a child or surrounded by other types who aren't genuine or sincere they can develop listening barriers which revolve around these issues. They can get along with any one and this has made them more selective when it comes to their personal lives.

The fifth type in this group believes they have been here and done that many times before and they come across as being the 'wisest' of them all, and perhaps this is true. They are determined, sensible, caring and sincere. As husbands and wives they are quite satisfying, they understand the need for material things and provide well. They can be tyrannical and this lets them down. They don't 'realise' they have indeed been here and done that before and if they could they would understand why it is they have come back. Unfortunately with this type they prefer to live out a spiritual life but lack the 'passion to challenge' themselves through their barriers.

Group 3 Showing jealousy, envy, aggression and or unemotional showing no feelings at all

There are 3 different types in Group 3.

Spiritually you might say anyone in this group has been stuck on the Earth's plane for a long time.

The first type is burdened with material desire. They might be a little superstitious and this is the extent of their spiritual journey. Some may say there is always the feeling there is something going on with them - most of their concern is about what they have and what else they can have. They live out their life in ways where they usually pass away before their time. Their listening barriers are compiled of issues based on their material desires neglecting all else. These types usually pair up with others who share the same material desires.

The second type is strictly concerned in money and wealth. More than the first type! They show little interest in anything else. Unlikely to gamble like the first type who most certainly will, they simply do not want to part with money. If they are to venture into spirituality they are likely to follow a religion. It is rare if they have ever heard the call of their heart. Their listening barriers revolve around their desires to reap material wealth and to have that forever and ever and ever....

The third type wants to change the world! They can get carried away and alienate themselves. They desperately want the world to be a better place with more love, understanding, compassion and kindness. These types are deeply concerned with mis-doings and tend to take everything personally. As a result they often find themselves in sticky situations. Their listening barriers revolve around limiting thoughts about not having the power to change the world. They don't realise the world is fine and everything happens as it is meant to.

We don't listen out of fear and fear can represent anything. A common fear is change. Most people find security in what they have always done and therefore bringing a change to that can cause fear.

There is a power in listening and the more we listen, the more we learn. So many people get caught up with Earthly desires and make these their priorities. They become consumed to the point of no return and often live out unsatisfactory lives.

Essentially we have come to weed out what is negative and give room to growth what is positive. We struggle to move forward when we busy ourselves worrying about material things. It is important to open our hearts and start listening to us.

Seeing without your eyes

I was having a hard day running around looking after my toddler and minding one of my friend's kids too that when i sat my toddler up to do a nappy change i closed my eyes to get a breather and i noticed my sense of seeing was better than when my eyes were open and let me try to explain it better, when i closed my eyes i felt as if i could see better, my hands knew what to do to change his nappy that i really didn't have to open them!

I was so amazed and told my husband when he came home later that day and since then i have been closing my eyes often and doing things better with my eyes closed rather than open, its as though i can see better when they are closed by being able to sense and feel on a deeper level which is what i call "better". It's just amazing!

When my eyes are open i think too much and i think a lot about stuff that i don't really have to think about but i just do because i can see it, by seeing it and looking at it I'm thinking about it and sometimes that gets in the way of what i have to do at the time. I'll give you an example like when i am darting through my house in a hurry to get something i keep my eyes open of course because i don't want to run into anything and hurt myself but that has happened with my eyes open! I am very busy most of the time especially with a toddler, there is always a lot of work to do!

If i am loading the washing machine and i keep my eyes open i tend to hit my hand as i chuck dirty washing in but if i close my eyes i don't hit my hand on anything and i can feel the dirty washing better and i can feel my sense and my focus of what i am doing clearer without the distraction of when i'm looking at what i'm doing plus i find i feel more rushed and tired when i see all the work i have to do so by closing my eyes i feel more positive about my housework.

There are things i can't do without seeing obviously but there are a lot of things i can do with my eyes closed even better! I pay more attention on what i'm doing and even if what ever i'm doing doesn't come out better than if my eyes were open i still "feel" better closing them so i do!

I don't do ironing or hanging clothes out or bathing the toddler or cooking dinner with my eyes closed of course but i can wash up dirty dishes, change nappies, load the washing machine and fold laundry with my eyes closed. It's a bit like an escape or an oasis too and it takes me away from what i'm doing! My mind slows down as soon as i close my eyes and my focus deepens straight away it's amazing!

Smoking – What's Really Happening

The earliest forms of cigarettes were attested in Central America around the 9th century. The Maya and later the Aztecs, smoked tobacco and various psychoactive drugs in religious rituals and frequently depicted priests and deities smoking on pottery and temple engravings. The cigarette and the cigar, were the most common method of smoking in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central and South America until recent times.

Smoking cigarettes or better known as just simply "smoking" has a negative effect on health and many governments impose restrictions on smoking tobacco, especially in public areas. The primary justification has been the negative health effects of secondhand smoke.

Although research is inconclusive, current up-to-date studies have shown that no amount of smoking is safe. Smoking during pregnancy is also unsafe and there is no safe limit. The more cigarettes you smoke the higher the risks of developing adverse health complications.

There is a wealth of information on the Internet which discusses the affects of smoking. The problem with cigarettes is the tobacco blend which includes various dangerous and highly toxic gases and chemicals which cause cancer and other problems to that nature occurring anywhere in the body with the lungs and heart been mostly affected. Cigarettes cannot be made without these poisonous gases and chemicals because nothing else can burn slowly. It's the blend of the poisonous gases and chemicals which make the cigarette. The filter attached to the end of the cigarette does not filter out enough of the various dangerous and highly toxic gases and chemicals which cause cancer and other problems to that nature.

The statistics of those who end up having problems related to their cigarette smoking is staggering. Studies have shown the more you smoke the higher the risks are. Individuals who smoke more or up-to a packet a day have an even greater risk. Other factors can increase your risk such as genetics, diet, exercise, current health conditions including stress and depression.

The more you smoke combined with the longer you smoke puts you at the greatest risk of developing a condition which can cause a slow and painful death. Woman who smoke during pregnancy are endangering the health of both themselves as well as the baby's development and then after birth. Babies suffer withdrawals and can feel unwell and tend to fall ill more often than those who are born from non-smoking mothers. Remember there is no safe amount!

The smallest amount of smoking affects the natural aging process and the smoker ages faster than a non-smoker. A smoker is usually anywhere between 3 to 5 years older than their biological age and that depends on the amount of cigarettes smoked over a period of time.

If a smoker stopped smoking, they could return their health although this will take time and the longer they smoke the less time they will have to return to good health and well-being. The younger you are when you stop smoking the better it is for you. No matter what your age if you smoke try harder than you've ever tried and finally put an end to it and reduce or avoid the risks of developing a slow and painful illness. It takes the body 10 to 15 years to recover after smoking for several years.

Smoking is the same as inhaling toxic gases and chemicals for a living so before you make smoking a career choice seek help and education. Learn about the effects it has on you and make a better choice for yourself and choose to stop. Stopping may be difficult but many people have been successful and there is a wealth of support to assist you on your journey. You can stop.

We don't realise every time we light up at the extent of damage we are causing because we can't see it and we can't feel it but we know it's happening every time we let out a wheeze or an awful cough. If you feel guilty at yourself for smoking this is the first indication you are seeking out a way to stop.

Yul Brynner the actor, who died at 65. Throughout his life, Brynner was often seen with a cigarette in his hand. He died of lung cancer on October 10, 1985 in New York City. In January 1985, nine months before his death, he gave an interview on Good Morning America, expressing his desire to make an anti-smoking commercial. A clip from that interview was made into a public service announcement by the American Cancer Society and released after his death.

Feeling Young Again!

Two 80 year old men are driving down the road when they hear the Ex-Lax commercial end with the statement: "It makes you feel young again."

John looks at Bob and says, "We need to pull over and get a bottle of that stuff!"

Bob agrees and the two old men pull over and get a bottle of Ex-Lax. They both take two tablespoons each and continue to drive.

About one mile later Bob asks, "Well John, do you feel young yet?"

"No," replies John.

So they pull over and take four more tablespoons a piece and continue to drive down the road.

A couple of miles later, Bob asks, "John, do you feel younger?"

"No," replies John, "damn," (looking down) "but I sure did a childish thing!"
